Cake!

We had our cake consultation this morning here: http://www.mazzettisbakery.com/  and it was wonderful! They were so accommodating to our last minute need to have a consult and we are even getting to try cakes on Monday! I think we already decided on Mazzetti's because they are great and the price is under $300! The cake is going to look like this:

With possibly chocolate dipped strawberries where the petals are :)

Made the call

HEY! We made the choice. We are getting married on Saturday September 3rd (Labor day weekend) at http://www.bestwesternlighthouse.com/  The room is the cove. It will be catered by http://www.ristorante-portofino.com/home.html  And the view is fabulous! We got to sample some of their food for breakfast and it was very good. We called and left a message to confirm yesterday.

Guest List

So, Russell and I have a final count on our "ideal" guest list. It's 138 people. When I only invite the bare-minimum, we have 98. Our "only close friends and family" is 26. Thoughts?

Sofia Hotel

A client of Russell's offered to let us "use" his hotel for the wedding. Russell thinks this might mean a discount of some sort. Here is their website: The Sofia Hotel  It's pretty, but only allows 88 people. Which would be good for Zion, but in San Diego, more people could come.

"Feel" of the wedding

Decided we want the feel to be romantic and personal. Which sounds like a small wedding. And I dunno, we just keep talking about Zion like it's finite, so maybe it should be. And it would help keep the guest list small.

Overwhelmed

I wanted to start this post by saying that I have frequently walked into a Supercuts  and just said, "cut my hair, but keep the length". And let the stylist just cut away. Usually they are unhappy with this request and make me say more, but really I just want my hair cut. So making decisions about what I want is Not my forte. This ineptitude in my character is really showing when trying to make wedding decisions. The only detail I had ever planned about my wedding is the color (Black, White and Red). Other than that, I am pretty wishy-washy.

I decided to look at local destinations because I am still not hooked on Zion yet. So I searched San Diego sites and there were over 100. Which was overwhelming. Russell really doesn't want to do San Diego though. Then I said, ok if we want a destination wedding lets look at some other outdoor pretty sites that are not beach weddings. And then it's just crazy influx of ideas and places and overwhelmed-ness. I just really need some help reigning myself in here. When I was looking at Zion I was like, oh, there's five places. Five choices. Five things to investigate. Now I feel like I could never sort through all of the ideas in my head.

So. Does anyone have some other suggestions about forresty-rocky-scenic places to get married?

Zion Wedding?

So, Russell and I are exploring having our wedding in Zion. Here are a few possible places:

Our first pick would have to be:

http://www.cliffroselodge.com/weddings.php

It's really pretty, but kindof expensive. Especially because they do not provide anything more than the garden-grounds for the price (3,000).

Second thought is the Community Center:

Not as pretty, but only 1,000 and I think you have to be indoors? Not sure about that, but it might be a deal-breaker. Although, we could do a very small ceremony somewhere in the park, then a big reception at the community center.

Any thoughts?
